Migratory Routes – Proyecto Ambulantes

Migratory Routes

ORIGIN AND DESTINATION MAP

This interactive map reflects the information gathered during interviews carried out by Ambulantes program partner organizations Caminos Centro de Acompañamiento a Migrantes, AC, and Fomento Cultural y Educativo, AC, in the Valles Centrales region of Oaxaca and Sierra Norte and Huasteca regions of Veracruz, respectively.

Farm workers described their living and working conditions in their respective destination regions and their personal experiences dealing with the impacts of COVID-19. Interviewees also shared their main migration destinations during each season.

Ambulantes used the responses from interviewees on migration destinations to create a visual aid that could clearly document the typical migration routes from Ambulantes communities of origin. This tool makes it easier to understand common common migratory flows and key regions of internal labor migration with the broader public.

Accompanying this interactive tool, Ambulantes presents a series of documents and research from governmental and academic institutions about internal migration routes.
